Well there is only six more days until the series opener. I know I am excited and nervous. Anyone else feel the way I do? There will be some differences with running at WFO compared to other facilities. This is do to the smaller drivers stand. We can only accommodate a max of 7 drivers on the stand. So with the smaller stand this makes us have more heats. We can get this working very smoothly if we all follow the guidelines to the opener!
The track will open up at 9am with a racing start time of 11am. We do not want to get racing started later than this due to the extra heats/mains. This will cause issues with people who work the midnight shift that night. We will have controlled practice from 9am until 10:40am. The track will close promptly at 10:40am for track maintenance!! Also upon arriving at the facility head straight over to the registration tent and get signed up! I don't want to see people arriving at 9:15 and waiting until the last minute to sign up!
Another way to help speed up the day will be the integration of rotating marshaling. This means you will NOT marshal the race directly after your heat or main. But instead you will marshal the second race after yours. This will give you more than enough time to return to your pit, check motor and speeder temps, check your batteries on your charger and return back to marshal. We would like to have all the marshals ready in wait standing next to the shed. So when the race is over you can move directly out to your marshaling positions.
Also the racers that are due up need to be in line 2 minutes before the previous race is over!! We do not want to be calling out for racers or marshals. Except for requesting voluntary marshals!! There will be one practice lap and no more than two minutes in between each heat. We will allow for a total of 4 minutes in between the mains! If you need an extra minute or two then please loudly speak up or have someone head over to the timing table to request a grace period. The grace period will be a maximum of two minutes. Once the two minutes are up the start tone will sound with or with out you!
Controlled practice times:
1st Round of Practice
9:00am to 9:20am Youth and Sportsman
9:20am to 9:40am 1/10th Scale
9:40am to 10:00am 1/8th Scale and 4x4 CORR(SC)
2nd Round of Practice
Open practice until 10:40am
Run at your own risk and please be courteous toward other drivers and their equipment! There is no reason a 1/8th scale should need to plow into a 1/10th scale car or even a sportsman. If you come up on slower traffic then please wait for an opening. Or kindly ask the drivers on the stand if they can give you room. And at the same time if a 1/10th car is coming up on you in your 1/8th scale and they are hugging the line then please give them room!
I expect everyone to be courteous to other races by allowing them time to practice too! We will announce the half way points during the 1st round of practice. So if you are in the 9:20am to 9:40am 1/10th time slot and you got out there at 9:20am then you need to come off the stand no later than 9:30am! And this goes for the open practice as well. There will be an announcement every 5 minutes. So please finish the lap you are on when the announcement is made and allow other racers to head up to practice. You can get a lot of practice time if you head back in line after your 5 minutes of practice! LINE JUMPING OR HAVING A FAMILY MEMBER OR FRIEND STANDING IN LINE WHILE YOU ARE PRACTICING SO YOU CAN GET MORE PRACTICE THAN OTHERS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!!!! IF I CATCH THIS THEN YOU WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE DOCKED ONE LAP OFF OF YOUR FASTEST QUALIFIER!!
This does not pertain to the drivers who choose to practice along side the perimeter of the track. These rules only apply to the DRIVERS STAND.
I know this does not give us a lot of time for practice. But we need to make sure the day runs smoothly and at a good pace so we all can get back home at a decent time!
Thank you,
Chad Roland
Series Rules
1) Be courteous to your fellow drivers, pit crews, track owners, series committee members and spectators while you are attending the series! And keep the foul language to yourself. We don't want to hear it on the stands. There are kids and others who do not need to hear it!
2) Please pick up any trash in your pits and surrounding area. We do not want to leave a mess behind for the track owners.
3) It is required that all entrants turn marshal (or provide a replacement turn marshal) after:
a) their practice rounds
b) after their qualifying or main
If you fail to marshal or do not find someone to marshal for you after your heat race. Then it will be up to the race director and/or the race committee to either move you back in the starting position in your main or dock one lap off your fastest qualifying heat.
4) Marshal the way you would want to be marshaled. Marshals are not track side mechanics. If a car or truck is broke, then set it down until after the race is over. A driver's pit crewmembers are allowed to enter the racing surface to retrieve a broken car. But please do not enter or cross a section unless it is clear. If a crew member causes a fellow racer to crash. Then it will be up to the race director or a series committee member to either move you back in the starting order in your main or dock you one lap from your best qualifying heat.
Also do not watch the race! You are there to marshal your area! Not to be a spectator!
5) Be on time for the drivers meeting.
6) If you need a minute to make a heat race or main. Then kindly ask for a minute. We will allow up to 2 minutes of wait time for qualifying heats. And a max of 3 minutes for the Mains. Once that time expires the race will start with or with out you!
7) No intentional HACKING! If you cause some one to flip over, spin out or crash. Then you need to wait until that car is back on it's wheels and you need to allow them to take back their position prior to the crash! If you do not wait up then you will be called out to do a 6 second wait at the nitro pit area or other designated spot.
8) Please refrain from yelling at the marshals. The marshals are there to assist getting you back on the track after YOU wreck.
9) Any complaints or issues should be taken up with the race director or to a series committee member!
10) Refrain from driving your cars in the pit area. If you need to test your car then please do so in a area away from the pits or vehicles.
11) If you are running a crystal radio. Please do not turn your radio system on in the pits. Crystal radios are only allowed to be powered on when your race is starting or during practice. Or unless permission is received from a race director or series committee member! ALL CRYSTAL RADIO FREQUENCIES NEED TO BE CHECKED IN WITH A RACE DIRECTOR PRIOR TO POWERING ON YOUR SYSTEM UPON ARRIVAL AT THE FACILITY!
12) Absolutely NO REVERSE on the track!
13) All drivers are responsible for the actions of their pit crew, family members and friends!
